Consell's main pricing initiative is to provide the best value at a competitive price.
Consell offers not only translation in a text file, we offer full localization services. This means that beside taking care of the linguistic transformation of your material and respecting the target cultural expectations, we also offer auxiliary services from glossary making to translation memory maintenance and from file engineering to pre-press preparation. All these side services provide you with both quality benefits and savings on your translation budgets.
Using the newest technology in the localization industry, pricing has become a more complex concept over the past couple of decades, though all changes have been in favour of our clients. In alignment with international industry standards Consell uses source word count as the basis to measure the translation effort and so determine prices. But this is only one of many factors that eventually make up our pricing. The new concepts of translation effort make it very hard to provide an online price list. Please see below some of the aspects we consider before giving you a bid.
Volume discounts
We provide substantial discounts for any of the following cases:
- Large volume into a single language pair.
- A considerably large document into many languages.
- A framework agreement that ensures long term cooperation.
Match discounts
Employing state of the art CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) tools means we can offer you leverage discounts. For example Consell offers 70% discount on repeated sentences and by maintaining client specific translation memories we can offer large discounts on release based documents, where new releases are highly leveraged from previous releases.
Language pairs
Consell works with translators, linguists and proofreaders who natively speak the target language, and actually live in the country corresponding to that language. We also have to differentiate between language pairs taking into account the economical differences between countries.
Text complexity
Translation effort depends on the type of the source text. Standard manuals are less demanding than software strings or marketing related documents.
Source and target format
Depending on what format our clients send us and what format they expect back from us, some engineering or DTP work might become necessary. Our staff can handle the file formats of most well known publishing software applications, including Framemaker and InDesign, and also most web formats (HTML, XML, etc.). We can also handle PDF source documents.
